Bio
“Brother” Ethan Shaw has performed on stages in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and almost every state in America. He has appeared on MTV, CMT, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and at Disney World. He has performed with Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakum, the Derailers, Marty Stuart, the Mavericks, and countless other great musicians and bands.
He is an in-demand session musician, and can be heard on over 50 albums, working with some of the best producers in the business.
Brother Shaw currently leads/co-leads two Western Swing bands: Brother Shaw’s Texas Swing Revival and The Quilted Southerners, and a rock band: Chili Cold Blood, and is steel guitarist for Honky Tonk band The Hens. He can also be seen on steel guitar with Melissa Carper, Georgia Parker, and several other Texas-based bands.
Brother Shaw was named “Country Legend in the Making” by TSP Country Radio, was featured in the book Seduced by Sound, and was the subject of a feature article in Country Music People Magazine.
Continuing the tradition of his teacher, the great Herb Remington, Ethan now teaches steel guitar (and bass) to a growing number of students. In addition to in-person and virtual lessons, he has a YouTube channel with over a quarter-of-a-million views, Brother Shaw’s Texas Swing Revival, featuring steel guitar, upright bass, and Western Swing lessons and performances.
Brother Shaw hosts his show “Raising the Bar” on Steelradio, where he features great steel guitarists of the past and present.
Through his performances, lessons, Youtube channel, and radio show, Brother Shaw is doing his best to do what Herb Remington directed him to do: “Keep the tradition alive!”
